How did you find movement? I grew up dancing ballet, jazz, tap and modern! I found yoga, Pilates and meditation a few years ago to mix some peace into my movement practices. 

What inspires you to move? Music, music, music.

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? Any flow-y lunge sequences, plank variations or unilateral fun.

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? Shake it off!

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? I took a stunt acting/sword fighting course once to get over a heartbreak.

How did you find movement? I found yoga when I was 16 years old. I never enjoyed moving up until then but yoga somehow changed that.

What inspires you to move? The reassurance and confidence it offers me and my body. 

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? Anything for spinal and hip mobility.

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? firm, direct, progressive

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? Studying Ashtanga yoga in India four separate times.

How did you find movement? I found Pilates six years ago after an injury and constant pain in my knees that limited my strength training and mobility. I played sports my whole life and then start strength training in the gym and recently fell in love with CrossFit!

What inspires you to move? How great I feel after I move my body and being able to push my body to do things I never thought it could!

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? Deadlifts are my absolute favourite but I also really enjoy inverted movements on the reformer. 

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? Slow it down! 

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? Vertical repertoire was very fascinating and fun to learn and I’m excited for my level 2 reformer to start this fall.

How did you find movement? Movement found me at my worst and changed every aspect of my life for the better.

What inspires you to move? Long-term health and independence. I’ll be planking into my 90s with some luck.

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? Far to many to list. Love anything that flows…add breath and it’s my meditation!

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? mind+body+soul

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? Working towards and completing my comprehensive Pilates certification was literal pure joy for me but the journey never ends, there’s always more to lean!

How did you find movement? Yoga found me as a mental health practice. Before, I grew up dancing, and love that yoga is a synergy of form, function and beauty when flowing together.

What inspires you to move? Releasing pent up physical and mental energy and tension.

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? Ashtanga series 1 and breath work post-yoga practice. 

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? playful, releasing, empowering

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? Elemental Yin yoga, so much benefit and nourishment from learning this traditional Chinese practice and learning to slllowww down.

How did you find movement? Movement has always been a big part of my life. I found and fell in love with aerial fitness a few years ago, which actually led me to yoga in hopes of becoming more flexible. I have since learned that yoga is so much more than that!

What inspires you to move? Above all, music. I love moving to music. Music, movement, and breath work help me feel alive and well.

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? I love anything that challenges me – trying out a new pose or seeing the progress on a nemesis move is both exciting and satisfying.

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? gentle, intuitive, releasing

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? I pursued my 200-hour YTT with De La Sol with the intention to deepen my own practice.

How did you find movement? It was always with me.

What inspires you to move? Dancers, dancing, dance, dance, dance and any other crazy athletic pursuits.

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? Anything with feet in straps, but also…side splits, lunges, plank waves, wall balls and of course, just dancing.

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? Movement is medicine.

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed?  I won’t be lame and say they are all tied but maybe they are. I learn a little (or a lot of) something with every one, ya know.

How did you find movement? Back in 2015 I had a corporate job. It was lonely and I escaped via a daily yoga practice. It got me through each day and as I deepened my practice I discovered that my biggest “what next” breakthroughs happened on the mat.

What inspires you to move? Community. I love feeling connected to the people around me.

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? As long it is in community, I’m easy. I like a nice walk, flowing on my mat or joining the 7am CrossFit class with Alchemy pals. 

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? accessible, fun community-spirited

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? I did my 200 hour YTT in India and it was incredibly special.  Studying osteopathy has certainly been the most intense training I’ve ever experienced – I believe it will also be the most rewarding (and I’m almost done!)

How did you find movement? Movement has been at the centre of my life for over 40 years.  Movement has inspired my career choices as a physiotherapist and now a yoga instructor. Throughout my life the style of movement that speaks to me has changed multiple times but it’s importance has always been the same. 

What inspires you to move? I am in constant awe of the human body; its ability to adapt and recover. Doing the best for this amazing vessel inspires me to move it. I also love connecting with that active seven year old inside me! 

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence? I love balance poses.

In three words describe your teaching style/approach to movement? light-hearted, challenging, functional.

How did you find movement? My Grandpa and Mom both teach yoga and meditation, so I didn’t have far to look when I wanted to learn more about the practice about 15 years ago. 

What inspires you to move? These days I get a lot of inspiration from watching my toddler move in new and creative ways! We dance a lot together. 

What’s your favourite pose/exercise/movement sequence?  I love playing around and exploring different ways of getting up off the floor and sitting back down.

Best/most favourite training you’ve ever completed? I’ve trained with some amazing people but I really loved my Elemental Yin Yang yoga teacher training with Aquin Yoga.
